    The Smoky Mountain Astronomical Society (SMAS) is an Astronomical League-affiliated club for astronomy enthusiasts in the East Tennessee area. SMAS provides monthly meetings at Pellissippi State Technical Community College in Knoxville, star parties at several locations, and a members-only Yahoo group. SMAS also has several loaner scopes for members including a 10-inch dobsonian, a 127mm Burgess Optical achromatic refractor with an LXD55 mount, and our newly refurbished 20-inch Dobsonian we term "Sasquatch."

Next SMAS Meeting Nov 11th, 7:30 PM

Join us at PSTCC Hardin Valley campus in Room 223 in the Alexander Building for our next regular club meeting.

The Nov 11th program will include:

  1. Treasurer’s report
  2. Presentation by Lee Erickson entitled: “The Moon – Deep Sky Nemesis, Beginner’s Friend”
  3. Presentation by Jim Sanders entitled: “Photographing the Moon – Addendum to last month’s Presentation”
  4. Group discussion: The condition of our club’s 2 Dobsonian Telescopes and ideas for improvement
