    The Smoky Mountain Astronomical Society (SMAS) is an Astronomical League-affiliated club for astronomy enthusiasts in the East Tennessee area. SMAS provides monthly meetings at Pellissippi State Technical Community College in Knoxville, star parties at several locations, and a members-only Yahoo group. SMAS also has several loaner scopes for members including a 10-inch dobsonian, a 127mm Burgess Optical achromatic refractor with an LXD55 mount, and our newly refurbished 20-inch Dobsonian we term "Sasquatch."

Next SMAS Meeting on February 12th

Join us at PSTCC for our next meeting. SMAS will hold a brief
election of new officers for 2010. Thanks are in order to the
nominating committee and the new nominees for agreeing
to serve SMAS in the coming year.

Also, the meeting will include two presentations:

The Life of Stars II by Mike Littleton
The Opposition of Mars by Lee Erickson

We may also discuss plans for the coming year. Now is the
time to provide your input on the coming year's events!
